There is absolutely no way of knowing when something tragic may come upon us. Regardless, what’s crucial is that we are prepared for these occurrences. When it comes to these happenings we need some assistance. But it’s not intelligent to try to get help then. When this happens, we can definitely look at them as being emergency situations.

The emergency situations should be supported by the emergency Supplies. So we can understand the importance of such emergency supplies.Because we can feel the benefit of having adequate Emergency Supplies.

Just like the Emergency Supplies , First Aid Kits have equal importance in our life. The fact that there is always the possibility for injuries and accidents that you wouldn’t have thought would happen. No matter the injury is serious or simple,we have to provide the immediate actions to save from the critical situation. For that we should have First Aid Kits with us.At critical situations we have to make use the First Aid Kits before calling a doctor. This will give sudden and partial relief to the injured people. It will help the doctor to make his duty easy.

Whether you think so or not, it’s fascinating to know how first aid kits and emergency supplies got there start. The First Aid Kits should be kept not only in home, but it should be there in office, vehicles and in any other public places. The emergency supplies can be medicines. We know urgent medicines are very important to a patient’s life.So we can consider it as a very important and emergency thing. We have to be prepared with the urgent medicines before the disaster strikes.

There may be some that are a little unsure about what exactly is in their first aid kits. What is the first aid kit consist of?The kit has different components in it for different type of injuries. And these types will depend on the person who assembled it and the actual purpose of the kit.Anyway these kits have some common components. Those are the items to control bleeding and some common medicines etc.We can say that it is a collection of emergency supplies.

Let us check out the different first aid kits available. Those are Home first aid kits,Car first aid kits, children first aid kits, sports first aid kits, business first aid kits etc.Even though the names are different all of these kits have unique objective. All of these are kept with an intention of providing safety.Let us know briefly about these first aid kits so that we have clear idea about its usage.

In daily life we have to be prepared for dealing with the every day cuts, burns, injuries and illness at home, work, or at play.It is very usual in home.So we need home first aid kits. Accidents at home should be treated soon otherwise it may lead to death. The items in a home first aid kit should be easily accessible.Because the common people in home may need to use at accidents, not the trained people. It should be accessible at any time.

Now let us check different emergency supplies. The emergency supplies are the things you may not even consider as important. But those are actually the emergency supplies. Those are water, food, first aid kits, personal items, clothing, communication, disinfectant, child care supplies, disabled related supplies etc. Keep these apart and classified as emergency supplies.Because no one predict the time of need.

There are other things that may be contained within an emergency kit, for example things such as the list of drugs that some has been prescribed by their physician to take and paperwork that’s extremely important and sensitive.Emergency reference materials should be kept.Fire extinguisher is very important in all the places.Fire starters and igniters, such as matches, must always be kept in something that won’t allow them to get wet.We have to remember one thing that the most safe thing is to avoid accidents rather than keeping all first aid kits and emergency supplies.

No one ever wants something like an accident to occur while hiking or using a piece of camping equipment, but you always have to be prepared, just in case.
Video 4 Every once in awhile I try and buy extra foods on sale to build up a supply of food incase of a disaster. Times has change and I think you should build up bug in / out supplies, camping equipment, food storage, water , medical and medicine supplies. Any disaster will sell out stores in moments. And a disaster can cause riots. So I am making a safe place to just sit put in my safe house ful of supplies and food. THANKS for watching. PLEASE COMMENT anything you want about this video.
Question by BullWhip: Emergency Preparedness: What’s your take?
So, [even] the federal govenment recommends that you and I have emergency food & supplies set aside:

http://www.ready.gov/america/getakit/

The U.S. Government is recommending ~at least~ [a] three days supply of food and water (and other things, too).
Have you done this or do you think you can get ‘er done after ‘something’ has happened? If you have prepared, what have you done? How many days worth of food do you have for each person under your roof? Have you made any provisions for other people / family [members] that might show up? What about provisions for water? Do you have water stored? If yes, how (in what-type container, etc.)? How much (per person)?

What other provisions, if any, have you made? Do you think it’s all for nothing, or are you taking these recommendations seriously?

I notice that no where on the government’s website do they talk about provisions for personal security. I find that very odd, if they truly wanted to make a list of “must have’s” . It stands to reason that if something major were to happen that would cause a person to need emergency food, water, etc, that things would be chaotic….seems like the police would be rather strung-out and busy doing all kinds of things (like trying to stop people from looting food and worse). So, do you have a weapon of some sort, or will the police be there for you if you needed them?

While the “weapon” question might be to most entertaining (to the cynical-type), please try to be sincere and answer all of these questions. I am genuinely interested in finding out what measures people have taken, if any, to prepare for “something”.
I am not trying to incite anyone. I am asking for a reasearch project that I am doing. So, you can snuggle in with your book, just after you read to gov’t website link about preparation. If anyone is “inciting” it is the fed. govt

Most sportsmen are mindful that some types freeze dried food is available to reduce the weight of traditional foods. But there are currently a wide variety of freeze dried camping food available to satisfy just about any palette.

It used to be that your options were limited as to what you could buy for cycling, canoeing or backpacking in the freeze dried department. You would find freeze and dried spaghetti and stews as well as a desert or two and many sportsmen would look to MRE’s or meals ready to eat to give themselves a variety. Now campers and sportsmen can find just about any of this type of food they desire.

You can find dried and freeze beef patties alike to those you would buy in the supermarket. Then you will merely reconstitute or rehydrate and cook for a minute on each side. You can also find chunk chicken that you will add hot water too and will be ready in about 10 minutes. You can then use the chicken as you would traditional chunk chicken to make a pasta dish or eat plain.

You can likewise find freeze and dried campers deserts such as apple pie, strawberries and other. As far as dairy products you will find those as well, such as eggs, cheese and milk that can all be ready with a bit water.

Camper freeze dried food is packaged differently from the emergency food storage and is less expensive. You will discover it in pouches which are easy to open and have been vacuum packed. Emergency supply of this type of food is stored in enamel coated cans so that the can does not disintegrate with time. These types of packages can last well beyond 30 years and come in a better variety than campers freeze and dried foods.

There are plenty of items your campers and sports enthusiasts will enjoy as gifts such as different types of campers chocolate bars, nutrition bars and a variety of easy to make freeze dried campers food. There are stroganoffs, stews, lasagna, freeze dried chicken breast and potatoes and many other camper foods that are great for any sports enthusiast gift ideas. Most people have found that these camper foods are better than something traditional foods they would have to bring and offer better nutritional value as well.

You can discover camping food at many sports shop such as REI and likewise direct from the internet. In fact many of the online stores will offer great prices and free shipping if you order enough freeze dried foods and campers gear. You might find the prices are cheaper online due to the low overhead of these camper supply shops.

There are several different types of backpacks that can be used for camping. The choice between them is largely a matter of personal preference, but some backpacks are better for some types of camping than others.

An internal frame backpack has the metal frame built into the inside of the backpack. It sits close to the body. An external frame backpack is a large metal frame with the backpack components built onto it. The external frame backpack sits away from the back and often extends above the head of the person wearing it. A frameless backpack is smaller than either of the other two options. It is typically too small for a camping expedition, and is more often used as a day pack.

There are several ways to determine what backpack would work best for you. A good place to start is to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each:

· The internal frame backpack sits close to the body. This makes it easier to carry up and down steep terrain or in the backwoods, because it doesn’t interfere with your center of gravity.

· The external frame backpack sits further away from the body. This can make it more difficult to navigate over rough trails.

· The internal frame backpack, because it sits so close to the body, can be extremely warm. If you do a good deal of hiking in hot weather, you may find that an internal frame backpack is too warm for comfort.

· An external frame backpack sits away from your back, allowing a breeze to circulate between your back and the backpack.

Once you have carefully considered the advantages and disadvantages of an internal and external frame backpack, you will be better able to decide which one is right for you. Regardless of which style you choose, the backpack should fit properly for maximum comfort. How do you know if the backpack fits?

· When wearing the backpack you should be able to look up without hitting your head on the backpack.

· When you squat down, the backpack should not hit you in the back of the calves.

· Walk around with the backpack on, with some weight in it. Any pain felt in your shoulders or back could mean that you need to adjust the backpack, or it could mean that the backpack does not fit. Either way, do not use it on a hiking trip until you have fixed the problem.

· If your backpack does not have a sternum strap or hip strap, consider purchasing one to use with it. These straps are very helpful at redistributing the weight of the backpack in a more comfortable manner.

If you are interested in camping, invest in a quality backpack. A backpack is one of the most important pieces of equipment that you will use while camping. An ill-fitting backpack can ruin your camping trip. A properly fitted backpack can make the experience more enjoyable.

There are a variety of additions that you can include when purchasing a backpack. A rain guard slides over the top of your backpack so that a sudden shower does not cause all of your clothes to become drenched. Extra straps make it possible to strap hiking poles and water bottles to the outside of your backpack for easy access. A food container makes it easy to keep your food safe from any animals that may want you to provide them with a meal.

Once you have chosen the backpack and gear for your camping trip, take time to properly pack. Place heavy items that you will not use during the day in the bottom of the pack, close to your back. Cooking paraphernalia, for example, could be packed there. Items that you need ready access to, such as the first aid kit, should be packed near the top.

Things that you may need during the day, like water and snack food, can be packed in pockets on the outside of the backpack. Finally, no matter what the weather, it does not hurt to toss your raingear in the top of the backpack. This way, if a storm blows in suddenly, you will not soak the contents of your backpack trying to find your rainwear.

Properly packing a backpack requires trial and error. You may have to pack and repack it before you get the right weight and adjustment. If you plan on hiking a significant amount, reducing the weight of your backpack can significantly increase your comfort level. While some people are comfortable carrying 35% of their bodyweight, others prefer to keep their backpack’s weight to around 25% of their weight. Experience and experimentation will allow you to develop a feel for the best weight for your backpack.

Survival for camping emergencies outdoors is more than an adult only challenge. Young children face special needs such as safe food, water, and hygiene.

A children’s survival backpack can be created for each trip and should include:

Water - in the form of water boxes for convenience and longevity, water purification tablets, or a bottle water treatment system. Food - in the form of energy bars which are compact and easy to pack. A variety of flavors is preferred. The bars with chocolate may melt in hot climates. Depending on the trip, taking more is better than not having enough. Trail mixes are also a good source of energy which can be purchased or make your own. Safety - having a rechargeable flashlight like the shaker or squeeze style. Communication - glow sticks that can last for several hours each and a whistle for identifying ones location. The 5 in 1 whistle has a loud tone that can be heard a mile away, as well as a compass, mirror for signaling, flint starter, lanyard to carry it around your neck, and water proof case. Hand crank radios with emergency features such as a flashlight, cell phone charger, receiving alert notices if the radio is on, and weather alerts. Warmth - polar fleece blanket for warmth and bedding, poncho to protect from the elements, gloves, body warmers, and dust masks. A ski cap is small enough to pack and would help keep body heat from escaping. First-aid - band aids, sheer strips, antibacterial strips and gauze pads seem to be the basics. Take a bee sting medication if one is allergic. A snake bite kit might be a good idea if the area you are traveling is invested. Take any other allergic medications if necessary. Hygiene - Body wipes and tissues are good to have packed in case the need arises. Toothbrush and toothpaste are important items even in emergencies. Entertainment - children often need a diversion and including coloring books, crayons, jump rope, checkers, and chalk may help in keeping them calm.

It is better to be prepared for the worst and then not need it. Carrying a backpack with these items makes it possible to keep your children safe. All the necessary items would be together and available in the case of an emergency. Even after the trip, keeping the backpack handy would be a good idea.

One of the least expensive, yet most fulfilling, types of vacations is the camping and backpacking trip. Hiking through the back country at one of the nation’s magnificent national parks, or just wandering around the wilderness of a state park closer to home, can be a great way to commune with nature, and a wonderful way for families to get away and enjoy being together.

One of the things that makes backpacking so attractive to budget minded trailers is the low cost it takes to get started. Little is needed other than a good quality backpack, a top quality tent and maybe a camp stove or similar appliance.

Other than that, the main thing to pack is your sense of spirit and adventure. This article provides some valuable tips for the first time backpacker on a budget.

Invest in a good quality hiking map or guide and get to know the area you will be traveling to. Pay careful attention to the notes and precautions and try your best to match the terrain to your level of ability and experience.

- When estimating the time it will take to hike to your destination, always overestimate.

- Be sure to obtain all necessary permits, and reserve the campsite you want, in advance of your trip. It is not unusual for campsites to sell out, particularly in popular national park destinations.

- Always check local regulations regarding campfires, smoking, cleanup, etc. to avoid paying fines.

- Research the weather patterns of the area and always be prepared for the worst weather. Always pack some sort of rain gear.

- Dress appropriately, in layered clothing, no matter what time of year. Be sure to pack clothing that will allow you to be prepared for sudden changes in temperature or weather.

- It is best to wear breathable materials, such as polypropylene or wool, to allow perspiration and moisture to be wicked away quickly.

- Learn how to operate your equipment before you hit the trail. It is important, for instance, to set up your tent at least once or twice at home. Get familiar with how everything goes together. Learn how to operate your camp stove before you leave home.

- Determine how much weight you can comfortably carry, and pack appropriately. Many first time backpackers try to take too much gear, and end up unable to carry that gear during the trip.

- The weight of the backpack should be no more than one quarter of your weight, and it is best to take only what you need.

- Pack more food than you think you will need. Hikers and backpackers burn far more calories than the average person, so be sure to eat sufficient amounts of high quality foods while on your journey.

- The best foods to pack are those that are high in carbohydrates, proteins and fats. These high quality backpacking foods include peanut butter, instant oatmeal, trail mix, pasta and dried fruit.

- Learn where the water sources are on the trail and be sure to keep your water bottles filled in case the next source of water is farther away than anticipated. It is important to drink plenty of water when backpacking, even when the weather is cool.

- Always cook your evening meal before it gets too dark. Extra food should always be stored in a bag and hung from a tree limb at night to protect it from local wildlife.

- Raccoons, skunks and bears have learned to look at backpackers, hikers and campers as easy sources of free meals.

- Always pack a first aid kit and be prepared with some basic first aid training. Carry a GPS system or satellite phone if you will be traveling far into the back country, and leave a schedule with the local trail ranger and with friends at home.

During the summer months camping is one of the funnest things we can do with our time and with our families. Whther you truly rough it with any comforts, or you decide to take the RV or the generator, spending time in nature with friends or family is totally freeing and relaxing.

Many people are starting to use solar powered lights and heaters when camping, making it easier to cook and spend time with each other at night. There are some great advantages to using solar powered camping gear.

1 of the main advantages of solar powered camping gear is that you can avoid things like lanterns, that use oil and/or batteries. the solar powered light practically pays for itself after just a few trips. And there is no need to risk fires or burns on tents.

Another great solar powered item is the solar powered heaters. They can be used anywhere, inside tents, or in rafts and canoes as well. Simply let the heaters and lights cgarge in the sun, and you are ready to go.

Solar Powered Camping Gear - Go To The Solar Powered Camp Site

1 of the most widely used solar powered items is the Solar Powered radio’s. They are known to work much better than regular radios. They last for many, many hours when fully charged. You can get radio stations from all over due to the specially made solar panels. But there is something eles that is truly awesome.

These solar powered radios have plug-in’s on them that will aloow you to plug in things that have to run on electricity. Although you can most anything to work with solar energy, sometimes we already have items that use electricity, and when you can plug these items into something solar powered, why not?

Some of the main items that can be plugged into the solar powered radio’s are:

Coffee makers

Small TV’s

Laptops!

Battery Chargers

Phone Chargers

Microwaves

And all kinds of convenient items.

As a matter of fact there are ven solar powered battery chargers that just need to be left out in the sun. Than they charge using nothing more than the natural power of the sun.

There is also water purification equipment that can be used with solar power. There is the Steripen solar power charging kit that comes with a carrying case that has a full solar panel side on it, making it easy and convenient to charge your CR123 batteries.

Completely ?roughing it? in the outdoors might become something of a thing of the past, if you choose to use solar camping gear during a trip.

It is a proven fact that sunlight contains approximately 1,000 watts of power per square meter. If you can harness that energy, your life can be made a lot easier – without the need of bringing extra weight to fuel your electrical or electronic devices. During camping trips, you normally want to bring only the essential items. Too much additional weight can be quite a burden to you.

The free energy of the sun can be used in several items. You might use one or two solar-powered devices, or your campsite can be surrounded with solar camping gear.

These items are often lightweight, and portable enough to be carried. These include radios, camp lanterns, flashlights, and AM/FM radios. The gadgets have their own photovoltaic cells, which gather energy from the sun.

For devices which don’t have their own solar cells, you can use a separate solar charger to power the device.

What is a Photovoltaic Cell?

A photovoltaic cell is made up of a nonconductor, with one side coated with metal atoms that produce electrons when they are exposed to the sun. The other side of the PV cell is coated with negative electron atoms. If you connect a wires, from each side of the cell, to a device, current will flow when the positive side is exposed to sunlight.

The downside of using a photovoltaic cell is that it can be less efficient than other types of power. A small solar panel can can only power equipment which doesn’t require a lot of power. What’s more, when you?re outdoors, you can’t always expect the weather to cooperate with you.

Chances are, you?ll experience bad days when the sun barely peeks out of the clouds. At times like these you?re solar-powered gadgets will not work. This is the reason why majority of these solar-powered camping gear feature additional energy sources, such as batteries, hand crank dynamos, or the option to charge them from a wall socket when available. There are even solar chargers that can recharge your AA batteries, so that you can later use them to run your small electronics.

Some people enjoy camping in RVs. Solar power can be used to charge the RV?s batteries. Photovoltaic cells can be discreetly placed on the dashboard.

Some people like to take hot baths, even in the wild. A solar shower can be utilized for this task.

Or, by using a solar cooker, you can have hot meals without risking a forest fire.

As you can see, solar camping gear can make your outdoor life a easier, as well as safer. And it can help you to enjoy nature even more ? without doing additional damage to the environment you are camping in.
