yeah, i totally get it, listen if you are serious about being prepared. and you stick to this 3 day food thing on the side. you would already be not only have more stock than most people put away, you would have the advantage and peace of mind of knowing that you’ll be okay for that time. i myself have many month supplies ready not just food either things like the luxury of toilet paper for example. Doing this and having that MINDSET is just as important as having stocks for 3 days or 30 years

There are lots of situations you may not be considering. Event if one goes shopping weekly, before getting there something could prevent successfully getting food. That could be a situation outside your area that keeps the stores’ delivery trucks from arriving.
You may be a healthy person who can get by on water only for three days. Not everyone can.
I’m glad your situation is such that you don’t need only a 3-day emergency supply of food. Others aren’t that lucky.

i would have thought most people would only go the shops once a week anyway? maybe twice for milk… seriously 3 days of food? i am glad you said to extend it to a few months later. i mean give me 8 liters of water an i can go 3 days WITHOUT food. But… i guess we’ve all gotta start somewhere sometime….right

@BohemianGarnet Better to have several months of supplies and stay put. That shelter you seek may end up being a prison. Just look at what happened in the dome after Katrina. It was horrid, people were beaten and raped. The doors were locked. Those people were imprisoned by FEMA. Do not depend on government to help you, help yourself instead.

that is good for the first 72 hr but longer shelf life stuff should also be packed… I always pack a 1lb salt container and 5 jars of bullion cube inside each 5gal mylar/plastic bucket with oxygen absorbers…Salt and bullion will help greatly with some flavor for the pinto beans and rice.. I

Pretend you have just been through a major earthquake. The roads are completely impassible for cars. You need to get yourself and your three days food storage to a shelter. Grab up your current supply and lug it around the block.
Did you survive the walk around your block? Perhaps you need to re-think all of this ultra heavy 72 hour supply of food. It is NOT evacuation friendly.
